 Update... Minimize

Well we did it! An amazing adventure through 10 countries - and almost 1/3rd of the way around the world. We'll try to update this properly soon with stories and photos from the journey - but for now a very quick but huge thank you to everyone that supported us - and to all of you who donated. We raised an amazing amount and are truely grateful to each of you.

Two brief SMS mesages received from the team earlier today confirming their arrival in Ulan Bataar. This marks a successfull end to their 10,000 mile journey...

"The red maestro horde roll into UB in style - dusty and battle scarred, but invincible!"

"Having beers in front of Ikh Del.  Greg now has a flat tyre!"

Phone call from Zoe & Paul...
By admin on Tuesday, August 12, 2008
They are all now at Harhorin and staying at a superb Ger camp - excellent facilities including hot showers. - going to the restaurant shortly, but at present enjoying the view from the camp which is on the hill overlooking Harhorin and Erden Zuu monastry, one of the largest in Mongolia. They all plan to visit this in the morning, before heading onwards with a planned arrival time in UB of lunchtime Thursday.  They were speaking very highly of the cars which apparently have absorbed a huge amount of punishment and (Fingers crossed!) are still plugging gamely onwards.

Team Birthday Number 2: Robert Cross!
By admin on Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Sandra had a brief birthday 'phone conversation with Rob this morning.  "All is brilliant.  Must go! the others are off..........."

Judging from the 2 recent map messages from Greg & Royale, they are near Tsetserleg, just a bit short of Harhorin (Kharkhorin), Chinggis Khan's ancient capital. 2 more days to UB if their luck holds!

Today was really tough, having started at 05:30 and they were still driving as we spoke at 20:00.  However they are pretty much back on track after major delays due to the diversion and some car problems ( 2 for Princess Roo, 1 for Royale and an oil leak for Greg, which was traced to a rip in the plastic spare oil container (Doh ...

By admin on Monday, August 04, 2008

Against the odds we have received photos from the front line. As you can see the depraved, cramped conditions are, as we feared, beginning to take their toll...

More photos available here.
